NFFO Services Ltd was formed in 1984 in response to needs for direct links between fishing interests and offshore exploration, development and production companies.
As a consequence of being directly linked to the National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations (NFFO), NFFO Services Limited benefits from the influences of the Federation via it’s membership and also it’s wider communication with all areas of the fishing industry.
Therefore resulting from having access to all sectors of the fishing industry, NFFO Services Ltd. is repeatedly called upon to provide the link between other offshore activities and fishermen providing an appropriate, professional service to offshore projects that have the potential to conflict with the interests and efforts of commercial fishermen.
NFFO Services Ltd. is a company wholly owned by the NFFO: the primary representative body of fishermen throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Channel Islands.
OBJECTIVES
Our main objectives are:
- To retain the view that NFFO is the key contact for offshore operators seeking early guidance on fishing within the UK sector. The purpose being to facilitate better understanding and minimise potential conflict with commercial fishermen.
- The formation and continuation of a constructive and meaningful working relationship between the fishing industry and other offshore sectors, to the mutual benefit of both, whilst engaging in different activities in the same sea areas.
- To liaise and support wherever possible, formulating arrangements which allow, so far as reasonably practicable, both parties to co-exist in relative safety.
- To promote responsibility and awareness by all parties towards dealing with any temporary or longer term hazards for fishing operations, thereby promoting a much safer working environment for fishermen and other stakeholders.
