NFFO elects David Hill as new chairman
Skipper David Hill from Kilkeel has recently been elected as the next Chairman of the NFFO, The National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations. He’ll take over from the current Chairman, Fred Normandale, next year.
Skipper Hill has been a fisherman for 29 years, 22 as a skipper. Most recently he has skippered the prawn trawler Westerdale. He’s a director on the Anglo-North Irish PO Board and in that capacity, has been a key part of NFFO delegations to London and Brussels.
“I am honoured that the NFFO Members have put their faith in me as their next Chairman, I’m 100% committed and will ensure that the NFFO continues to be a strong, effective voice for fishermen.” Mr Hill said. “I started as a cook, worked myself up to skipper and have fished for herring, prawns, whitefish, semi-pelagic and demersal - so I have a fair idea of how the job works!” he added.
Current chairman Fred Normandale welcomes the new Chairman Elect saying “Davy has a direct understanding of fishermen’s concerns and views and I’m sure he’ll make an excellent chairman”. |
